Red Maple Bark Extract: The new sustainable, Canadian-sourced anti-aging ingredient

As the beauty industry continues to evolve, so do skincare ingredients. Trends have emerged over the years, from argan oil, green tea and ginseng to algae, kombucha and niacinamide, which have taken the spotlight in recent years. While consumers look for products that deliver results for their skin, many also consider natural and eco-friendly skincare. As the demand for sustainable products continues to grow, a new ingredient has entered the spotlight: Red Maple Bark Extract, known for its anti-aging properties.

What is Red Maple Bark Extract?

Red Maple (Acer Rubrum), native to Canada, is known for its beautiful vivid red leaves during the fall season. Every year, the forest industry generates a large number of coproducts, such as tree bark, which has always been considered a residue with no value. However, studies have shown that the bark, being the richest part of the tree, contains high levels of natural bioactive compounds and allows it to resist external aggressions.

Efficacy & Claims

Derived from Canadian red maple bark through circular economy, the Red Maple Bark Extract contains a high anti-oxidant level that reduces the impact of oxidative stress and inflammatory response. It is a powerful active ingredient that helps produce collagen and elastin to restore skin’s firmness, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and other signs of aging. This extract works by inhibiting free radical production, reducing collagenase synthesis and enhancing elastin and collagen synthesis.

After sourcing and testing multiple ingredients, the team created the final formula for an anti-aging face oil, combining the benefits of Glycerin & Red Maple (Acer Rubrum) Bark Extract, Cranberry Seed Oil, Abyssinian Oil, Labrador Tea Oil, Jojoba Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Fleabane Oil, Crithmum Maritimum Extract and Hippophae Rhamnoides Seed oil, along with the Céla Complex (6 Canadian botanical extracts - Blueberry, Elderberry, Evening Primrose, Juniper Berry, Rosemary and Lavender).
